John Mankiewicz, the producer of such series as “House of Cards” and “Bosch,” is making his debut in podcasting with a new series called The Big Lie for Audible and Fresh Produce Media. Described as an immersive, cinematic seven-part audio drama series, the podcast is about the making of the 1954 film “Salt of the Earth” which was the only movie named to the “Hollywood Blacklist” for the left-wing views of producer Paul Jarrico, writer Michael Wilson, and director Herbert J. Biberman. The trio also refused to testify before a communist-hunting congressional committee. A passion project for more than two decades, Mankiewicz ultimately decided The Big Lie was right for his first project in audio.

The winners have been announced for the second edition of the Ondas World Podcast Awards, organized by PRISA Audio and Cadena SER. Among those being honored are Radio Ambulante Estudios, Adonde Media, the daily podcasts of three Spanish newspapers, the first original Batman in audio and the independent podcaster Cristina Miter. The awards seek to pay tribute to the Spanish-language podcast and the most outstanding work and professionals of 2022.

Audible is launching a new eight-part audio series called Origins that will feature a number of A-list musicians answering the question “Where are you from?” Billboard can exclusively announce. The show will feature everyone from Billie Eilish, Doja Cat and Camilo to Koffee, Mickey Guyton, King Princess, Flying Lotus and artist-rapper Tobe Nwigwe interpreting the central query, with all episodes slated to drop on Nov. 17 on Audible.
